Fellow fly fishers, It’s been a while since I last put out a newsletter. I hope your summer and fall were good and you at least got out a few times between all the rain we had. I probably got out fishing less than I have in years. I still had some good days for trout and smallmouth, all things considered. Kandi and I fished a couple of days with Hunter Dorn of Wisconsin Fly Fishing Company, along with John and Cheryl Channon. The fishing was tough, but we caught some nice fish, and a good time was had by all. I also shared a boat with John Miller for a day, fishing with Kyle Zempel of Black Earth Anglers. Fishing was tough as well, but we caught some fish and took in the beautiful scenery on the Wisconsin River. My trout fishing experiences were on the lean side for the most part, by a few days a good number of fish were caught and the outdoor experience was top notch! After all, it’s not about the number of fish caught, but the time spent in the great outdoors. We’ve gained some new members in the last few months, so I hope you all make them feel welcome and pass along your expertise as you always do. In this newsletter you’ll also find a couple of short stories by member Tom Jirsa. I think you’ll enjoy them. Thanks, Tom! At this time I would like to wish everyone and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Mike
