| Annual Silent Auction |
Held at the regular meeting in January, it is a chance
to support the club and get a good buy. |
| Spring Fishing Outing |
We camp in northeast Iowa at the Upper Iowa Resort and
Campground, and fish for trout in several of the area streams. Some
of the streams that we fish are French, Waterloo, Silver, North Bear,
and South Bear Creeks. Some people come for just a day, and others
spend the entire weekend. There are motels in the area if you do not
wish to camp. |
| Casting Clinic |
Usually held in May at Bergfeld Ponds. Watch the newsletter
or website calendar for details. |
| Fishing Clinic |
The Dubuque Fly Fishers often participate in local fishing
clinics. |
| Albrecht Acres Fishing |
During the summer the Dubuque Fly Fishers take the Albrecht
Acres kids fishing at their pond. |
| Summer Potluck |
Held in July or August, it is a time for fish stories
and good food. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the entire
family is welcome. |
| Fly Swap |
Held at a regular meeting. Watch the newsletter for
details. In addition to the swap, each participant presents information
concerning the fly they entered in the swap. This is an excellent
time to learn about a variety of flies and how to fish them. |
| Adopt-A-Stream |
The Dubuque Fly Fishers participates in Iowa's Adopt-A-Stream
program by adopting Swiss Valley trout stream. There are generally
two stream work/clean-up days per year (spring and fall). |
| Additional Activities |
Additional fishing outings that occur on a less regular
basis are trips to southeast Minnesota, The Black Hills, Colorado,
and Wisconsin. Club meetings include fly tying, guest speakers, DNR
presentations, casting instruction, or presentations by our members.
Meetings are generally informal with the opportunity to interact with
other members. Visitors are welcome. |
